Black White Denim has an in on the inside of fashion, Sarah of Fashion Dotty blog has been at London Fashion Week all weekend reporting from the catwalks exclusively for Black White Denim’s blog!
Ashley Isham AW12 Catwalk Show, Goldsmiths Hall
“Luxurious fabrics in dramatic hues were shown by Ashley Isham in the grandiose surroundings Goldsmiths hall. The matt texture of oxblood velvet contrasted with the emerald, amethyst, and liquid gold silk jersey. Isham found ingenious methods of draping, flattering a woman’s shape perfectly. A few pieces were shown in a jarring green englarged lizard-skin print, which did not sit well with the other lavish pieces. The collection was a safe bet for the true fashionista going on a glamorous night out – why be innovative when your signature is so strong?”

(Pandemonium was in attendance – perhaps shopping for a new gown?)

House of Evolution Multi-Designer Shows, Vauxhall Fashion Scout
Delada AW12 Catwalk Show
“Delada’s was a collection of two halves: first up was very wearable black and white androgyny, with slim black pants, tuxedo jackets, and neat asymmetric jackets. The latter half consisted of evening dresses with awkward sheer panelling, proving difficult for even the toned models to wear. Navy was used as a flattering alternative to black, but was not enough to save the ill-cut dresses.”

Merabi by Nadine AW12 Catwalk Show
“Manchester’s very own Merabi showed exactly what she does best – glamourous evening wear with a twist. Standout pieces included an ostrich feather and velvet gown and a grey satin paperbag waist skirt. Many of the pieces were cut very close to the body; for Merabi’s target actress customer will be fine, but for mere mortals Spanx are a must.”

Zeynep Tosun AW Catwalk Show
“The standout collection by a mile was Zeynep Tosun – every single piece was innovative, wearable, and styled to perfection (NB – the show was styled by the designer, too). PVC collars, peplums, and oversized backpacks were a fashion forward dream, and gorgeous deep greens, oxbloods, and oranges were shown tonally and also contrasted with cream. Inspiration appeared to be subtle mix of oriental and Scandinavian. The final look had the whole room’s camera phones in the air to snap the huge silver backpack, white fur jacket, and silver cuffs. This designer is definitely one to watch!”
